Patricia Forde

Patricia Forde is the current Laureate na nOg - the Irish children's laureate. She grew up in Galway in the west of Ireland, where she still lives. She has worked as a teacher, a director of an arts festival, a television writer, a playwright and a waitress, though not necessarily in that order.

Trish's highly acclaimed fiction debut The Wordsmith (Little Island) was shortlisted for the CBI Children’s Book of the Year Award and published in the USA under the title The List (Sourcebooks). Her comic story for younger readers, Bumpfizzle (Little Island), was chosen as the Citywide Read for Children by Dublin UNESCO City of Literature

Recent and forthcoming books include her middle grade novel The Lost Dogs (UCLan) and picture book Letters from a Monster, illustrated by Sarah Warburton (Bloomsbury).

Trish is married with two grown up children and one incorrigible dog.
